Sindri was established in 1949 with the takeover of a small steel and machinery import business in Reykjavík.
Commonly referred to as SINDRI, the concern is a limited company providing the Icelandic industrial sector with steel, metals, fasteners, tools and a range of machinery.
Ranking among the largest importers in the country, Sindri has it´s head office, central warehouse, service shop, industrial retail store in Reykjavík in a new building at Klettagardar 12 in the container harbour in Reykjavik. Sindri in Reykjavik carries the largest stock of all kind of steel and metals in the country.
The Sindri store in Hafnarfjördur offers a wide range of electric tools and machinery and is also specialised in fasteners carrying the widest assortment in Iceland of Fabory fasteners as the Borstlap agent and distributor in Iceland.
These stores carry a wide assortment of tools, building products and consumables for the craftsman and the general house builder.

Building Products
Sindri has in recent years been serving the building industry in Iceland as it is using more and more steel and metals when constructing new buildings and structures.
Among the building products offered are prefabricated steel structures, industrial doors and storage systems, steel, aluminium and zinc claddings for buildings; steel gratings, perforated sheets, plastic sheets for use in the construction industry and fencing material.
In addition to providing the Icelandic metal and construction industries with an extensive stock of steel and metal products, the company employs experienced sales personnel with a technical and engineering background who are happy to provide consulting and special order services to customers.
Machinery
Compressors and drilling machinery from Atlas Copco have a large market share in Iceland and the compressors have a wide application in a range of business.
The machinery division furthermore markets products from Parker Hannifin and stocks quality pumps from Wilo.
In addition, the division provides a range of machinery and raw materials for sandblasting and surface treatment of steel and metals.
Sindra Stal operates a Service shop, which handles repairs and maintenance of machinery sold, and a Rental Service, which offers a wide range of tools and machinery for individuals and industrial companies.
Retail Stores
Sindri is the Icelandic distributor for DeWalt electric tools, Ridgid plumbing products, Lincoln Electric welding machines and consumables, Fabory fasteners and tools and a range of other products.
Sindri operates 2 industrial retail stores in the Reykjavik area. In short the retail store caters to industry, professional tradesmen and the demanding consumer.
Head Office and Finance
The Head Office and Finance Division handles all the relevant information required by the company, its marketing staff, suppliers and customers. Utilizing a modern communications system gives Sindri a strong competitive edge in matters relating to controlling stock, logistics and swift and effective delivery to customers. We are well aware that timely and reliable delivery is essential so as to minimize costs for our customers.
